Muslim Police Chief Nazir Afzal Resigns

The Chief Executive of the UK's police and crime commissioners, Nazir Afzal, has resigned.

Mr Afzal announced the resignation on his Twitter account, saying he would not be "saying anything publicly".

But the BBC has claimed his departure is connected to a "row over media coverage of terror attacks".

Ghanaian military officer mistaken for a robber and set ablaze in Ghana

              

Captain Maxwell Mahama, a Ghanaian military officer with the (5BN) at Burma Camp in Accra was on Monday, May 29th, lynched by residents of Denkyira Boaso of the Central region who mistook him for an armed robber.

It was gathered that the officer who is a commander of a military detachment in the area was jogging along the Denkyira Boaso-Diaso road, when he asked some women for direction. He was not in a uniform.

The women reportedly called the Assembly man who organized the youths of the town to lynch him. They later burnt  his body.

Meanwhile, Ghana Armed Forces have commenced investigations into the murder. The incident has sent heightened anxiety within the town after the perpetrators of the heinous crime realised the deceased was a military man on official duty.

The Armed Forces in a statement signed by the Director of Public Relations, Col. Aggrey-Quarshie said a fact-finding team led by the Chief of Army Staff is proceeding to the area to gather more information about the development.

“A high-powered fact-finding team led by the Chief of the Army Staff is proceeding to the scene of the incident to ascertain the facts of the case.”

He said they were collaborating with the police and other security agencies to bring perpetrators to book.

“GAF is working closely with the police and other security agencies to unravel the full facts of the case.”

According to the Armed Forces, its “Initial report indicates the officer was lynched by locals of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central Region whilst he was jogging at about 08.30 am on Monday 29 May 2017, under circumstances yet to be verified.”

“The officer was the detachment commander of our troops on operational duties in the general area.”

The Armed Forces has also urged its personnel to remain calm as the due procedure is taken to bring the perpetrators to book.

MC Oluomo’s Camp reacts to Hamburger’s Death

                      
Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya who is popularly known as Mc Oluomo  has washed off his hands from the death of Rasaq Bello aka Hamburger, a member of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who died hours ago.

MC Oluomo's camp maintained that as at the time of the primaries in the Shogunle area of Lagos during the local council primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that led to the death of Hamburger, MC Oluomo was away in the USA where he has been for some months now.

• Aside being out of town, several times before now, he has sponsored advertorials both in the local newspapers and radio on the need to maintain law and order before and during the electioneering period based on what the national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu discussed with him and some other stakeholders.
• “It is rather painful that the death of someone who had no prior problem with MC Oluomo could be linked to him” an associate of Mc Oluomo averred.
• To them, it is an unnecessary rumor bent on causing undue rivalry and public disorder among people who had no history of rancor between each other. The general public is hereby advised to discard such damaging rumour because MC OLuomo abhors violence of any form not to talk of taking a life.
• Unconfirmed reports have it that Hamburger was hit by a stray bullet from the police who were drafted to restore peace to the area before he died.
• “MC Oluomo will definitely support the law in finding out and giving the necessary judgment to whosoever is found wanting in the death of Hamburger” the associate concluded.

Laura Ikeji and her husband, Ogbonnaya Kanu, took to Instagram to debunk rumours he was once married to the mother of his two kids, Hannah Turay.
In the statement the expecting couple released, Ogbonna said:

“People, I just want to let you all know that I was not married prior to my marriage to Laura I’m happy to be married to Laura my wife. I have two lovely kids but was not married. I’m cordial with the mother of my two wonderful children but we were not together when I met my wife Laura is my only wife and I love her God bless you all.”

while Laura added that she and her husband are more like siblings, that he has been married just once and it is to her.

Wife set herself and her husband on fire weeks after wedding in Kano over infidelity

                            

Following her suspicion of her husband of few weeks cheating on her, a woman based in Kano reportedly set herself and her husband on fire early this morning.
It was gathered that the incident occurred at No 54 Middle Road residence in the Sabon Gari area of Kano, as she reportedly lit a petrol keg which exploded, engulfing herself and the husband.
Her husband who didn’t die on the spot, however died after he was rushed to Fortress Hospital at Sarki Yaki within the metropolis for medical attention, after suffering severe burns from the fire. His wife who was burnt beyond recognition, died at the spot.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the lady accused her husband of infidelity, shortly after she heard a conversation of her husband with an unidentified lady over the telephone, and then reportedly got angry and lit a keg of petrol within reach, which eventually exploded and engulfed their home at about 12am on Tuesday.Punch reports that an eyewitness, Mr. Emmanuel Okorie, identified the late husband as Emeka, disclosing that the couple hailed from Anambra State.
According to him, the late couple got married about five weeks ago, and the late woman whose pregnancy should be about seven months old, joined the husband in Kano three weeks later.
Okorie, who could not establish, whether it was the alleged telephone conversation that led to the unresolved dispute, however, told our correspondent that Emeka confided in him that his mother imposed the woman on him.
When contacted, spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, DSP Musa Magaji Majiya, said crack detectives from the Command had commenced an investigation to unravel the cause of the dispute.
Meanwhile, policemen from Nomansland Division had since deposited the remains of the couple at an undisclosed mortuary.

10 years old Suleja girl who sleeps with men for N100 to sustain her parents

A 10-year-old girl has been caught among four men having sex in an uncompleted build­ing at old Kwata of Suleja.
According to a police source, the girl who hawks sachet water known as pure water meets the men daily to have sex and in re­turn they pay her between N100 to N200.
In a chat with The AU­THORITY, she disclosed that she started sleeping with men since when she was 8 years old.
“I started sleeping with men when I was eight years old. I use the money they give me and the one I get from my pure water busi­ness to sustain my parents and two siblings,” she said.
When asked how often she meets the men, she said it was on daily basis and returns home at 10pm. “I don’t sleep outside my home,” she added.
When asked, the men refused to give their identi­ties. The police source said the matter is still under in­vestigation “and as a matter of fact, the little girl chose to engage herself into such act.
“She was not forced as we thought when we ar­rested them. It was dur­ing interrogation that it became clear to us that they had her based on her agreement with the four men.”

Senator Dino Melaye Allegedly Caught On Tape Bribing Tribunal Judge- Video Evidence

An audio tape obtained by Saharareporters has revealed how Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye compromised Justice Akon Ikpeme, the tribunal judge who handled his election case in 2015.

In the tape, which captures a telephone conversation between Justice (Mrs) Akoh and Mr. Melaye, the judge is overheard asking Mr. Melaye to give her a bribe in US dollars. She also asks Mr. Melaye to assist a person Dino repeatedly referred to as her "daughter" secure a job at the Cross Rivers State Ministry of Health.

Sahara Reporters investigation reveals that Justice Ikpeme is married to a Cross River medical doctor. She is reportedly number 3 in the hierarchy of the Cross Rivers judiciary.

Saharareporters could not confirm if Mrs. Ikpeme’s daughter got a job with the Cross Rivers state government, but in a second call between her and Mr. Melaye, the Senator bragged that he had already spoken to the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.

In 2016, Justice Ikpeme dismissed a petition by Smart Adeyemi, Mr. Melaye’s opponent, in accordance to the plot to let Mr. Melaye off the hook at the election tribunal.

Medicine not Alcohol Led To My Arrest- Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods has denied that alcohol led to his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The 41-year-old golfer has insisted that an "unexpected reaction" to prescription drugs was why he was arrested in Florida on Monday morning.

The 14-time major champion said in a statement that alcohol was not involved, but admitted: "I didn't realise the mix of medications had affected me so strongly."

Woods added that he understood the severity of what he did and takes full responsibility for his actions.
