"“We then discovered that it is the handiwork of the Igbo people"Bayero University lecturer accuses Igbos of supplying codeine syrups in the North

Drug Abuse: Bayero University lecturer accuses Igbos of supplying codeine syrups in the North lailasnews

Dr. Bala Muhammad, a Bayero University lecturer attached to the Faculty of Communication, while presenting a paper at the Kano Youth Summit on Peace Advocacy and Development, organised by Hamisu Magaji Foundation, at Mambayya House, on Monday, accused Igbo drug merchants of allegedly supplying codeine syrups into the north. The Bayero University Lecturer who presented a paper titled “Nexus Between Youth, Drugs, Crime and Insecurity”, wondered why drug abuse was not prevalent in the Southeastern region, but the Igbos supply cough syrup that contains codeinefor the consumption of the Northern youth.
Daily Nigerian reported that Dr. Muhammed who concluded by telling the general public to fight the menace themselves within their respective communities and further advised people not to disown the youth engaged in drug abuse, said;
“Our investigation revealed that drug abuse is beyond normal marijuana, cocaine, alcohol, etc. It has moved to the extent that the medicines we take in order to cure our diseases are now being converted into hard drugs.
“We then discovered that it is the handiwork of the Igbo people, who connive with our local people here, to supply the codeine into our region, especially into Kano state.
“There are many instances where Igbo guys were arrested for supplying codeine into Kano and some parts of the North. The cases have been reported in national dailies.
“So, why shouldn’t they take it to their region? Why don’t their youth engage in drug abuse? This is really sad, and we have to rise up to fight this menace,” he lamented.

Chloe & Jeremy Meeks Tying The Knot In April

The Topshop heiress is said to be expecting her first child with a man who shot to fame when his smouldering police mugshot gained worldwide attention.

In the midst of the news, Chloe Green was seen on Sunday evening heading out for dinner with her parents Sir Phillip and Tina Green alongside her boyfriend Jeremy Meeks at Nobu in Malibu, California.

The group were keeping things low-key, with Chloe ensuring her body could not be spotted amid reports that she is set to become a mother and is planning a shotgun wedding to Jeremy.

The whole clan were looking relaxed as they left the restaurant after continuing to remain quiet on the news that they are set to expand their family.

Sir Phillip was keeping things casual in jeans, a shirt and a black suit jacket, while his wife was typically glamorous in a houndstooth coat.

Hours before the meal, it was claimed she 'wants a low key wedding' in coastal Florida and will exchange vows with former convict Meeks, 34, when his imminent divorced from estranged wife Melissa is finalised, The Daily Star reports.

'The wedding invites are out and the wedding is in early April at a hush hush location in Miami. There will be a lot of rich and famous faces there,' a source told the publication.

'But it is being kept very much under the carpet as Chloe – like many brides – is a bit embarrassed about the fact people may think she is only getting married as she is pregnant.

'She hates the phrase 'shotgun wedding', but that is what it is as she wants to add some respectability to her pregnancy and does not want to give birth unmarried.'

It's understood that wealthy parents Sir Phillip and Tina have given Chloe their blessing ahead of the reported ceremony.
