Newly Crowned Miss Lang'ata Women's Prison Murder Trial Resumes As Relatives Of Deceased Gives Shocking Details
The newly crowned Miss Langata prison had fits of jealousy and rage a day before she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend 22 times and killed him.
The High Court heard on Tuesday that Ruth Kamande reacted this way to old high school love letters she found her boyfriend Farid Mohammed with.
Trial judge Jessie Lessit heard that Kamande became angry at the 24-year old after discovering several letters.
“She was angry and demanded to know why he still kept the letters,” Mohammed's uncle Edward Gatonye told the court.
Gatonye said the couple had planned to attend a party a day before Mohammed was found lying in a pool of blood at his rental house in Buru Buru estate, Nairobi.
He told the court he decided to go to his nephew's home after failing to reach him by phone.
“I found him at home with Kamande. We used to call her Biggy. When I inquired why his phone was off, Farid told me she had blocked it," he said.
"He also told me she was unhappy because she had found old high school letters from women."
Gatonye said he got worried after Kamande left them in the sitting room and locked herself in the bedroom.
The uncle, who said he met the woman just two months before the incident, noted he found her action disturbing. He said Kamande only came out of the room at lunch time to buy chips which she served herself and Mohammed.
“Farid had previously complained to me about her. He told me she was forcing him to let her stay with him yet he did not want this,” he said.
Mohammed's sister Serah Waithera, who was called as the third witness, described the couple's relationship as stormy and one-sided. Waithera said Kamande pushed her brother too far and that her expectations did not match his.
“She came to my workplace and introduced herself as my brother’s girlfriend," she told the court.
"From then on she would complain to me when they had problems but my brother would deny their relationship. One time I advised her not to force the relationship."
Kamande denied brutally murdering Mohammed on September 20, 2015.
The trial will resume on November 25.

Heavy Rain Causes Havoc in Lagos and Ogun States
The rain that has been falling for like 10 days in Lagos and Ogun states claimed two lives on Tuesday as a newly-wed teenager and a gatekeeper were killed in the states.
While the teenager, Faisa, was killed in Agidingbi, Ikeja area of Lagos, the gatekeeper, 27-year-old Joshua Moses, was electrocuted on the River Valley Estate, in the Ojodu Berger area of Ogun State.
Faisa and her husband, Muhammed, were reportedly married about 10 days ago in their village in Goza, Borno State, and had relocated to Lagos, before her death.
It was learnt that the deceased was alone in the house when the incident happened.
The corpse was recovered by officials of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit.
A resident, Umaru Mate, said, “I went out very early this morning and returned around 10am. I was about going into my house when I heard a loud noise.
“About 20 of us rushed there and saw that three houses had been destroyed by the mudslide. We were able to rescue a man, Umar, his wife and their five children.
“The woman that died just got married to her husband in the village. They have not stayed up to 10 days in this place.”
Another resident, Hassan Aji, appealed to the government to find a better place for them.
Ibrahim Aliu, another resident, said they paid N24,000 per year as rent to some men who claimed to be working for the Lagos State Government.
According to Punch, the River Valley Estate incident occurred on Abiodun Bada Street. The man, Moses, was electrocuted at about 6.30am.
He had opened the gate for his employer to drive out when an electric pole fell on him.
The rain had weakened the foundation of the pole which made it to fall on Moses, who reportedly resumed work in the apartment on Monday.
It was gathered that immediately the pole fell on him, the gatekeeper was electrocuted.
The incident was reported at the Ojodu Abiodun Police Division, which sent operatives to remove the corpse from the scene.

Muslim Prophet, Herbalist Nabbed For Killing Teenage Girl
They were reportedly arrested in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North area of the state.
The police also arrested 19-year-old Tobi Ogunkoya, who was suspected to have lured Olayinka into the hands of Banjo and Adeniyi.
The trio were said to have been arrested by policemen from the Ago Iwoye and Ijebu Igbo divisions on Tuesday. A source said Olayinka’s breasts were severed by her killers.
The state acting Police PRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said at about 2.30pm, one Serifat Adebanjo reported Olayinka’s abduction to the police in Ago Iwoye station, alleging that Ogunkoya was a suspect in the abduction.
Oyeyemi added that acting on the information, the police stormed a house in Imosan community and apprehended Ogunkoya, who confessed that Olayinka was in the custody of Banjo in Ijebu Igbo.
Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, added that upon his arrest, Tobi took policemen to the home of Banjo in Ijebu Igbo, where they met him with the Alfa, and they were arrested.
He said two fresh human hearts and a live tortoise were allegedly found in their possession.
According to Punch, Oyeyemi said Banjo confessed to the police that the girl had been killed, her breasts and other vital organs severed, while her remains were thrown into the Ogbere River, in the Ijebu East Local Government area of the state.
He said, “The Police have arrested Banjo, a herbalist, and Adeniyi, an alfa in Ijebu Igbo. Banjo said they have killed the girl and body dumped inside the Ogbere River. The police are working to retrieve the corpse. Two human hearts and one live tortoise were a recovered from the suspects.”
Oyeyemi said the suspects would be transferred to homicide section of the command’s headquarters.

EFCC Arraigns Impostor For N37m Fraud
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, arraigned one Jules Suinner before Justice Babs Kuewumi of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy to obtain money by false pretence to the tune of N37million.
Suinner, together with his cohort, allegedly hijacked the email address and letterhead of a company named Greenview Development Nigeria Limited and used same to write a letter to Access Bank Plc to transfer N25, 000,000 to the account of ICT Aid Foundation Cooperative Society domiciled with United Bank for Africa, UBA.
The money was allegedly transferred on July 14.
Also, the suspected fraudsters, on July 22, allegedly wrote to Access Bank to transfer of the sum of N12, 000,000 (Twelve Million Naira)| to the account of one Tee-EM Nigeria Limited domiciled with UBA.
One of the charges reads:
“That you, Jules Suinner, on or about the 13th day of July 2015, in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to obtain money under false pretence, conspired with ICT Aid Foundation Cooperative Society (still at large) and others (still at large) to fraudulently impersonate officials of Greenview Development Nigeria Limited.”
The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him.
Justice Kuewumi ordered the suspect to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned to September 14, 2016 for commencement of trial.

A statement from Acting Director Army Public Relations Officer, Col Sani Usman Kukasheka said he was alleged to be responsible for the recent act of economic sabotage perpetrated on NPDC/Shoreline major delivery trunk line within Ogo-Oteri general area on the 26th of last month.
The statement also reads: “The suspected militant, who was trailed, was arrested by troops along Agbor-Abraka road, Edo State on Tuesday 6th September 2016.
“He has been on the run since he was declared wanted because of his public declaration as the leader of the militant group “Otugas Fire Force” and his subsequent declaration of the threat code named “Crocodile Tears”, which was published by the Vanguard and Thisday newspapers on 31st August 2016, while the Brigade was engaged on the military field training exercise nicknamed “Operation Crocodile Smile”.
“Gabriel was arrested along with his accomplice, Mr. Elvis Dweller Ejus. Both suspects were handed to Operation DELTA SAFE for further interrogation and subsequent handing over to the relevant security agency for prosecutions.”
The statement also recalled that troops of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army in conjunction with Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Air Force and covert operatives of the Defence Intelligence Agency, had arrested a suspected kingpin of the Niger Delta Avengers, Isaac Romeo, who goes by the name “G2” in the terrorists’ camp.
It further stated that he was arrested along with two other persons, Mr. Lawson Samson and an elderly man, Mr. Iyang Ekpo in Calabar, Cross State while driving in a vehicle with registration number, CRS 86 AO1 on Saturday, 3rd September 2016.
“The arrest followed painstaking efforts and tracking of the militant who was in the state to perpetrate further criminal activities of sabotaging critical infrastructures. All the suspects are currently being interrogated,” the statement said.

A dad tragically died from a heart attack just moments after finishing the first dance with his daughter at her wedding.

His partner posted a photo of herself on Facebook with her husband and a poignant message telling their friends at relatives about the heartbreaking timing of his death.
She wrote: “You never know when the last time will be the last time!
“He was the most beautiful soul I have ever known and I will never be the same without him.
“Over the years we raised four amazing children, cared for my little brothers when they needed us the most and had even had the honor of a beautiful grandchild.”
She commented on the photo of the pair together: “I am so very grateful for this image of us that our dear friends snuck during our daughter’s wedding yesterday.
“Little did I know just a few hours later we would lose him.”
Tim who was a veteran detective with the York County Sheriff’s Department in Rock Hill, South Carolina, had been at the wedding of Michele to her now husband Luis Diego Granera on Saturday.

Nobody was hurt. Valuables were taken including the cctv device. A report has been made at the police station. He can't be reached at the moment but will be back on as soon as possible.'
