Man Throws Wife & Daughter Out In Lagos, Says She Can't Bore Me A Son [Photos]

A man has sent his wife and his 10-year old daughter out f his house, saying it's her fault that she has been unable to bore him a son and brought in a new wife. According to the woman, he sent them out in the middle of the night and she has been sleeping in front of a bank at Anthony bus stop. She wants to relocate back to her state, Imo State but presently have no money or even a place to live in Imo State.

Prince Gwamnishu Harrison, a Facebook user who found them narrates the story...

TEARS SEEING MOTHER AND CHILD SLEEP IN FRONT OF BANK IN LAGOS.

Arrived Lagos State this morning at 2:07am and surprise to see a woman and her 10yr old daughter sleeping in front of a Bank.

I observed them from afar, came closer to avoid waking a mad woman. I woke them up and ask to know why they were sleeping in such a place.

she opened up and told me she has been sleeping there for two nights.

HER STORY

“Trouble started when my husband brought in a new wife because i couldn’t have a male child. Last week Saturday at about 1:00am, he woke me and my Daughter (Amara), told us to leave his house in presence of his new wife. I didn’t utter any word, no fight, he helped me parked my things out and that of my daughter. My luggage was much so I left some at the Security Post. I had nowhere to go at that ungodly hour except traveling back to Imo State but have no transport and even where to stay in Imo State”. (Story Cut)

Her story touched my inner heart and gave out few Naira for her to transport herself back home. I would have love to see her husband but am not a marriage counselor.

Lagosians, her new home is Anthony Bus-Stop. Can we lift her burden?

Business Woman Bola Shagaya In Legal Battle With EFCC Over Frozen Cash

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday urged the Federal High Court in Lagos not to unfreeze a Unity Bank account with a balance of N1,902,673,399.93 belonging to a business woman, Hajiya Bola Shagaya.

The anti-graft agency claimed that the N1.9bn was the balance of a total of N3,305,150,000, which Shagaya received as “founder fees” on behalf of an organisation, “Women for Change” being spearheaded by a former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan.

The EFCC claimed that the N3.3bn was realised through Shagaya’s “fraudulent activities in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,” where she allegedly “influenced the fraudulent allocation of Dual Purpose Kerosene to Index Petrolube Africa Limited, with the aid of the former First Lady, Mrs. Dame Patience Jonathan.”

According to the EFCC, the N3.3bn was paid by the Index Petrolube Africa Limited and its sister company, Autodex Nigeria Limited.

The two companies, it said, belong to one Honourable Ezeani ThankGod, adding that the reason for the N3.3bn payment was to “fraudulently facilitate Dual Purpose Kerosene to ThankGod’s company, Index Petrolube Africa Limited.”

The anti-graft agency claimed that out of the N3.3bn, Shagaya had “paid a cumulative sum of N1,212,000,000 to the former First Lady, Mrs. Dame Patience Jonathan, through her ‘Women for Change Initiative’ account domiciled in Diamond Bank, to which the former First Lady is the sole signatory.”

It said after paying N1.2bn to Patience, Shagaya kept the balance of N1.9bn for herself by “warehousing” same in her personal bank account in Unity Bank.

The EFCC said it was on this basis that it secured an order of Justice Muslim Hassan of the Federal High Court in Lagos on December 29, 2016 to freeze the account.

It, therefore, begged Justice Oluremi Oguntoyinbo of the same court not to unfreeze Shagaya’s account, so that Shagaya would not “use this honourable court as a shield against criminal investigations and prosecution.”

These were contained in a counter-affidavit filed by the EFCC in response to an originating summons filed by Shagaya, urging the court to give her access to her Unity Bank account, which had been frozen since December 29, 2016.

Shagaya, through her lawyer, Mr. Napoleon Emeaso-Nwachukwu, contended that she was not given a fair hearing before Justice Muslim Hassan made the freezing order.

She urged Justice Oguntoyinbo to set Justice Hassan’s order aside by declaring it unconstitutional, null and void “as same violates the applicant’s right to own movable property as guaranteed by Section 44(1)(k) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria.”

In a 19-paragraph affidavit deposed to by one Sulaiman Aliu, Shagaya expressed concern that the ex parte freezing order made by Justice Hassan appeared, otherwise, to be final as the judge “did not give any return date for further proceedings and did not avail the applicant, who was the respondent therein and owner of the attached properties, a hearing.”

She said there was no criminal charge against her before and after the freezing order was made to justify her being denied access to her account by the EFCC.

She added, “The order of this honourable court made on the 29th of December, 2016 by Honourable Justice M.S. Hassan deprived the applicant of her property without recourse to laid-down procedure and due process of law.

“The ex parte order made to last pending the determination of an investigation, which is devoid of a time certain and indefinite in nature, is oppressive and a violation of the applicant’s rights to fair hearing, presumption of innocence and right to her property.”

She said since “the unlawful freezing of the applicant’s account by the respondent, the applicant has not been able to transact with that account due to her inability to access same and this has caused her business losses and opportunities.”

She said it would be in the best interest of justice to grant her access to her account.

But the EFCC, in opposition, argued that Justice Oguntoyinbo lacked the power to sit as an appellate court over Justice Hassan’s decision, describing Shagaya’s originating summons as an abuse of court processes.

It accused Shagaya of filing the originating summons “so as to impede the proper dispensation of justice and thus avoiding criminal investigations and possible prosecution.”

After entertaining arguments from the EFCC’s lawyer, Idris Mohammed, and Shagaya’s lawyer, Emeaso-Nwachukwu, on Monday, Justice Oguntoyinbo adjourned till May 17, 2018 for judgment.

A driver in the Kogi State governor’s convoy, Danladi Baba, who caused the death of a former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, Prof. Festus Iyayi, in November 2013, has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for reckless driving and causing Iyayi’s death.

Alhassan Husaini of the Lokoja Chief Magistrates’ Court II handed down the judgment on the allegation of “causing death by dangerous and reckless driving” levelled against the driver.

He found him guilty of the offence and thereby convicted him. Husaini said that the penal clause under Section 5 of the Federal Highway Act CAP F. 13 of 2004, being the mandatory position, coupled with the severity of the offence, tied the hands of the court.

“I have no option than to sentence you, Danladi Baba, to seven years’ imprisonment without an option of fine,” the Chief Magistrate ruled.

Husaini used the occasion to caution VIPs’ drivers on their recklessness, especially while driving in convoys, saying, “What is regrettable in this case is the serious abuse of the privilege of late by VIP convoys.

“These siren-blaring convoys force oncoming and other categories of vehicles off the roads in a manner that exposes law-abiding road users to hazard.” The convict, Baba, who burst out, crying uncontrollably upon pronouncement of his sentence, was said to have committed the offence at about 11:30 am on November 12, 2013, on the Federal Highway in the Banda area of Lokoja.

According to the prosecution, Baba, while driving a Toyota Hilux van belonging to the Kogi State Government on the convoy of the then-Governor of Kogi State, Capt. Idris Wada, drove dangerously and recklessly without regard for other road users.

The action, the prosecution said, made him have a near head-on collision with the Toyota Hiace belonging to the University of Benin chapter of ASUU travelling to Kano.

The bus skidded and rolled over several times, leading to Iyayi’s death, as well as the injury of Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Iloh and Dr. Enchanted Anthony.

Checkout The Nigerian Author Who Hawks Zobo On The Streets

Other than writing and marketing books, a Nigerian author is into another thing that could be considered intriguing.

Collins Oscar, author of five books, loves hawking a Nigerian beverage popularly called zobo.

Where he lives in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Oscar, 30, is often seen knocking on people’s door, delivering zobo drinks in plastic bottles in well-arranged cellophane packs.

He also distributes the product to stores and supermarkets and hawks it around traffic light in the city.

Mr. Oscar, obviously proud of what he is doing, would take photos of himself handing over the drinks to his customers or soliciting for buyers at the traffic light and then post them on Facebook. And that would stir debates on his brand of entrepreneurship. And then more people would contact him with more delivery request.

“Business is booming,” Mr. Oscar told Premium Times, saying he wasn’t bothered about what people think of his action.

“Being an author isn’t supposed to be a profession; it shouldn’t be because you’ve written a book, you now limit your life,” he said.

“I also did that to challenge people who think that youth in the state are lazy. I did it hoping that it could inspire some guys here to wake up and solve their problems instead of depending on the government,” he added.

The young author still markets and sells his books as much as he does the zobo drinks.

He said the zobo business was a partnership with “a senior friend”. He markets and sells the product, while his friend does the production.

“I told myself that I will make my first N10 million before I become 31,” he said. “I am close to that target.”

Mr. Oscar said he writes books from his life experience such as hawking zobo.

His latest book, 19 Business Lessons I Learnt From A Thief, was inspired when thieves broke into his house and stole his power generating set. He is also the author of the bestselling book, Idiots With B.Sc., which tries to explain why university education in Nigeria “wasn’t bringing out the potentials from the students”.

The author enjoys a lot of support from the youth in the state.

“He is quite different from many youths who are only interested in politics,” says UbongAbasi Okon, a young computer science graduate who is into full-time farming in Uyo.

Mr. Okon said he buys Mr. Oscar’s zobo drink anytime he sees it in a shop.

“I have never met him, but I follow him on the social media. It’s someone the youth should look up to. But a lot of youth may not really look up to him, considering the erosion of values in our society,” said Mr. Okon.

He added, “With time, people will come to respect him; you know, people attached a lot of respect to success. I know a lot of people, for now, might be looking down on him.”

Imaobong Akpan, a public affairs analyst in Uyo, said she has been a close friend to the author and sees him as an “unusual fellow”.

Ms. Akpan tried to justify the author’s action, even though she said she wouldn’t personally like to hawk things on the streets.

“It doesn’t blend, but that is Oscar for you. That wasn’t necessary, but he would always want to prove a point. That was a way of sending a message.

“He doesn’t do things the normal way. Even his books have very unusual titles. He is not just an author, he is an entrepreneur, don’t forget that.

“I think the youth could be inspired by what he is doing,” she said.

The author, a graduate of sociology from the University of Uyo, sees himself as a rebel with a mission to change things in Nigeria. His parents initially disagreed with his attitude towards life, but today they are proud of him, he said.

“Rebellion is obedience to God; there are so many things going wrong in Nigeria and Akwa Ibom State, and it will only take a rebel to correct them.

“Our system here has been soiled and when you try to say the truth people will tell you to keep quiet. Or they would advise you not to say it loud, so that people won’t come after you.

“I see a lot of excellence in other countries, but here we are surrounded by mediocrity. So, I feel challenged every day that I should be able to represent excellence in my own community and in the country,” said Mr. Oscar.
