Pastor runs for dear life after crashing into Students of Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo (Photos)

A clergyman fled for his life after crashing his car into students of the Adeyemi College of Education (ACE) Ondo in Ondo State on Monday night leaving many people seriously injured.

The sad incident sparked off a riot by other students. The students were returning to their off-campus hostel after a lecture on the campus when the accident occurred. According to SaharaReporters, the accident occurred at the popular Catholic Church junction on Ore road.

One of the witnesses, who pleaded anonymity, revealed that the ghastly accident was caused by a reckless driver who was later identified as a clergyman.

He said the reckless driver crashed into the victims (students) off the road after losing control at the wheels of his car while trying to avoid a commercial motorcycle. The witness further stated that there was no fatality as of the time of the incident but that the victims received serious injuries.

“Many students who were angered by the incident protested against the attitude of the driver and made bonfire on the road on Monday night. “When day broke, we blocked the adjourning routes to the main road when rumors filtered into the campus that the injured students [had] died.

He said the protesting students were angry that the reckless driver, rather than wait to attend to the dying students, chose to run away, and that the commercial motorcyclists plying the campus road refused to help them.

“It was later we heard that the driver ran to a police station nearby for cover as students chased after him,” he said. The car crash sparked off a riot at Adeyemi College SaharaReporters.

A police source at the Yaba Divisional Police Station in Ondo town confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters in a telephone chat on Tuesday.

The policeman who preferred to be anonymous said the driver of the vehicle drove down to report the incident at the station and was immediately detained.

“The driver came to the station and reported that some students of Adeyemi College were after his life due to a motor accident on the road to their campus,” he said, adding that the students then arrived, protesting.

“But, when their attitude was becoming unruly we quickly took immediate action by shooting into the air to scare them away from the station,” he said.

He added that the school management through the Dean of Students Affairs has taken over the case

Sahara Reporters’ effort to get the reaction of the President of the Students Union Government of the school proved abortive as he did not answer his phone.

The injured students are being treated at the Gani Fawenhimi Diagnosis Centre, also known as Trauma Centre, in Ondo town.

“We now calling on the students to donate blood to the victims (students) who are currently lying on the sick bed at the Trauma Centre in Ondo.”

“Maybe I’m wrong, but I assume this was set up to praise God, not to be a celebrity hangout, where people are busy staying awake to munch comments and see which celebrity is ‘liking’ and ‘commenting’.

Our ‘intentions’ are more substantial than our ‘deeds’, so let me ask you, what’s your intention; do you go there to praise God or to read and munch celebrity comments?

Let’s raise the praise and keep the prayers going. God sees your heart, not your Instagram comments! ~FRZ

Matthew 6:5-6 KJV
[5] And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are : for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. [6] But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

Okorocha Speaks On Arewa Youth Threat To Igbos

Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo has advised the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to desist from agitating for secession, saying the Igbos were not ready for another civil war.

Mr. Okorocha gave the advice at a news briefing at the Government House in Owerri on Tuesday.

He also urged the Movement for Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and other Nigerians in diaspora, drumming support for the actualisation of Biafra, to stop.

Mr. Okorocha called on Igbo youth to calm down and redirect their agitation toward the actualisation of economic advancement of Igbos rather than asking for a new sovereign nation.

On the recent sit-at-home ordered by IPOB and MASSOB, he said the exercise succeeded because the people, especially traders, wanted to avoid trouble.

He described the statement by the Arewa youth group directing Igbos to leave the North as “nonsensical and inciting’’.

The governor said that Igbos were peaceful people, who had come a long way in contributing to the economic development of the country, adding that no other ethnic group had contributed as much.

He called for reorientation of youth to repair the broken political relations between the North and the East and end the existing hatred and division between them.

“We have failed as leaders hence the campaign of hate for one another; we need to take responsibility and end it.

“We need to rise and take steps to end it and get rid of the inherent hatred and division we inherited from the colonial masters,” he said.

Mr. Okorocha also said that agitation for the leadership of the country by the different geo-political zones in the country was an ill-wind which had not done something good to the country.

He, therefore, called on all Nigerians to guard against hatred and unite to fix broken relationships.
