"I Will Not Step Down" – Gambian President Yahya Jammeh

Gambian President Yahya Jammeh said he would not step down and condemned mediation by West African regional bloc ECOWAS that aims to get him to leave power after he lost the December 1st election to a more loved man, Adama Barrow.

The comments on state television late on Tuesday were a hardening of the president's position after days in which hopes mounted he could be persuaded to hand over power at the end of his mandate on January 18, when Barrow is due to be inaugurated.

President Jammeh declares: "I am not a coward. My right cannot be intimidated and violated. This is my position. Nobody can deprive me of that victory except the Almighty Allah

"Already the ECOWAS meeting was a formality. Before they came, they had already said Jammeh must step down. I will not step down," he said.

Jammeh initially accepted the results of an election whose outcome was seen across Africa as a moment of hope.

But on December 9, he reversed his position and said he would challenge in the country's Supreme Court the results of the election he had already accepted it's outcome.

Reuters reports that he is accused by human rights groups of the detention, torture and killing of perceived opponents during his 22-year rule.

Jesus, the head of the church never collected tithe and his disciples, our first pastors didn't collect tithe either.-OAP Freeze Fire Bishop Oyedepo

Pastor Oyedepo in one of his messages said it takes ones tithing to qualify for God's blessings. Well, OAP Freeze doesn't agree with him as he says most billionaires in the world today don't pay their tithes yet are blessed. Read what he wrote after the cut...

''Only Those Who Pay Tithe Are Qualified to Receive Blessings From God'' - Pastor Oyedepo

This is absolutely not true!
Bill Gates, the richest man on earth doesn't pay tithe, Mark Zuckerberg, the youngest billionaire on the Forbes top 10 doesn't pay tithe, Dangote the richest man in Africa is Muslim, while Linda ikeji, the foremost and most successful
Please be careful what you let these men teach you. Jesus only mentioned tithe once in the bible, in passing, and he never linked it with success or salvation. Jesus, the head of the church never collected tithe and his disciples, our first pastors didn't collect tithe either.
According to historical records the first church set up by the disciples didn't collect tithe, and tithe was not collected by any church for 600 years after the death of Christ. ~FRZ

Prophet impregnates 16-yr-old daughter, gives her concoctions to terminate the pregnancy

A 16-year-old girl is allegedly carrying a seven-month-old pregnancy for her 56 years old father, Prophet Taiwo Oluboyode, in Odode, Idanre area of Ondo State.
According to Vanguard, the suspect, who owns a white garment church and currently in police custody, allegedly informed his interrogators that he was tempted by the devil to commit the act.

However, people in the agrarian community, are of the opinion that the cleric must have carried out the act “to renew his spiritual power.”

Findings in the town showed that the cleric is popular and his church, located at Oke-Ijebu Street, Odode, Idanre, always records high traffic of miracle-seeking worshippers from far and near on a regular basis.

Sources close to the church revealed that the prophet is a specialist in bathing women in streams to ward off evil spirits and those tormented by spiritual husbands, who prevent them from getting married or having babies.

Reports had it that the prophet lives alone with his daughter after the wife left him years back. It was learned that efforts by the estranged wife to take her daughter along with her were rebuffed by the suspect, who insisted he needed her around to run errands and take care of him in the interim.

A family source hinted that the suspect had refused to remarry after the wife left and had preferred sleeping with his daughter instead. It was unclear if the victim raised any alarm over her defilement by her father, but neighbours said that the girl was always keeping to herself.

Vanguard learned that the victim stopped going to school when signs that she is pregnant was becoming evident. Her school mates, who came to the house to ask after her, were informed by the father that she had travelled to Lagos to continue her studies.

It was gathered from police source that when the victim took in and informed the suspect, he allegedly gave her some concoctions to terminate the pregnancy. The attempt, it was learned, failed.

The suspect, according to a source, contemplated smuggling the victim out of the house to a private clinic, but she refused and threatened to raise alarm. The suspect then instructed the victim to stay indoors to avoid suspicion from church members and their neighbours.

It was revealed that one of the neighbours, who saw the girl with a protruding stomach, raised the alarm. Police laid ambush and arrested the suspect when he returned home.

Detectives said that the only words uttered by the suspect was “it was temptation and the work of the devil.”

The church is presently under lock and key, while other leaders and members of the church have gone underground for fear of arrest.

Police detectives at Ala Police Station in Akure, confirmed that the cleric had been arrested and would soon be prosecuted.

AGF Malami queries Magu, begins probe into DSS allegations

The office of Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami, has begun investigations into various allegations against some top Federal Government officials as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Following the President’s directive, the AGF had, on Monday, issued a query to the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

Sources in the Federal Ministry of Justice and the EFCC in Abuja confirmed to Punch that the query was delivered to Magu on Monday.

It was learnt that the query was accompanied by allegations contained in the security report prepared by the Department of State Services and upon which the Senate had, last Thursday, rejected his confirmation as the EFCC chairman.

“The AGF has started enforcing the directive by the President. I can confirm to you that the minister has taken the first step by querying the Acting Chairman of the EFCC,” a source confirmed.

Also, a source close to the acting Chairman of the Commission said the anti-corruption officer had received the query.

He said he had already commenced preparing his defence to the allegations raised by the DSS.

The source added, “Yes, he has received the query with the DSS report sent to the Senate on him. Ironically, the query only contains one of the letters written by the DSS to the Senate.

“I think he has no problem with the query, but the question being asked by some people is that, he ought to have been given time to respond to the allegations before the Senate took that position.”

FRSC Officials Threaten To Take Bribes Over Nonpayment Of Salaries

Some officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps have threatened to demand bribes from motorists if they are not paid their November salaries and allowances before Christmas.

The officials, who spoke to a Punch correspondent on condition of anonymity, said the Federal Government had refused to offer any explanation for the non-payment of the salaries and allowances.

The agency has, however, vowed to dismiss any official who takes bribes from members of the public.

They said this was more unfortunate because they had been asked to work during the holidays as part of the ‘Ember’ months’ campaign.

A female FRSC official, a single mother, said the non-payment of salaries had affected her as she had not been able to do any shopping for her children.

She stated, “Everyone knows that the prices of goods increase during Christmas and that is why most people try to do their shopping in early December. It is bad enough that we are witnessing a recession but the government should not worsen our condition by withholding our pay.

“How will I feed my children this Christmas? Where will I get the money to take them out to have fun? They cannot tell us not to extort money from motorists and at the same time deprive us of our salaries. It is unfair.”

Another official, who identified himself only as Patrick, said the government had no excuse for withholding their salaries since the FRSC was a revenue generating agency.

He said, “The government is being very unfair to us. Christmas is next week and many of us, who are male officials, have been asked to remain on the roads to ensure that the roads are safe. How can the agency ask me to spend Christmas on the roads and at the same time deprive me of my salary?

“They should not turn corps officials into policemen because that is what will happen if we are not paid.”

Another official, who identified himself only as Abiodun, told our correspondent that in the last five months, corps officials had been receiving salaries on the seventh day of the following month.

He added that the agency and the government had failed to explain to officials why things had gone bad.

“There have always been bad eggs in the agency but the fact that most officials were well paid sort of reduced the number of bad eggs. However, now that salaries are not being paid, the government seems to be giving officials the ‘green light’ to indulge in corrupt practices.

“You cannot flog me and ask me not to cry,” he added.

The Head of Media Relations and Strategy, FRSC, Mr. Bisi Kazeem, in his reaction, told our correspondent that the salary issue was not the fault of the agency but that of the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, the platform through which Federal Government officials are paid.

Kazeem, however, said officials would not resort to bribes as they were paid separately for patrols.

He said, “The salary issue is from IPPIS, and not from us; so, I suggest you get in touch with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.

“The salary issue is being sorted out and anyone, who takes bribes, knows the implications. Anyone, who is caught collecting bribes, will be dismissed.”

Court issues arrest warrant against Oba Akanbi,Oluwo of Iwo

An Osun State Chief Magistrate Court has issued a warrant of arrest against a first class traditional ruler in the state, the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi after he failed to show up in court to defend allegations against him.

The Oluwo of Iwo had been accused of concealing some facts about his past to the state government when he was installed as a first class monarch about a year ago by the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke, Oba Kadiri Adeoye.

Oluwo-Oke in a 33-paragraph affidavit said Oba Akanbi’s character did not befit a person of his status and calibre as he was used to carrying armed thugs, miscreants and hoodlums around to harass,
intimidate, molest and attack persons whom he perceived as his enemies.

He further alleged that Oba Akanbi forged his name to obtain travelling documents to the United States where he was jailed in New York City and deported to Nigeria in year 2000.

He added that Oba Akanbi later travelled out with his real name to Canada in 2001 and became a Canadian citizen but was also arrested in Toronto and was in jail between 2006 and 2007.
“These facts were concealed for the state government which appointed and installed him as the Oluwo of Iwo,” the suit read.
He also accused him of presently making money through the internet fraud otherwise known as “Yahoo Yahoo” and was using his palace as a cover-up.

But Oba Akanbi reacted to these allegations in a 13 paragraph affidavits through the Aremo of Iwo land, Mr Adelani Akanbi, describing the application filed against the Oluwo of Iwo by Oba Adeoye as “scandalous, vexations and designed to embarrass, blackmail and ridicule the monarch in the view of right thinking members of the society”.

The arrest warrant is coming days after Chief Magistrate, Olusola Aluko, threatened at the last sitting of the court that if Oba Akanbi failed to appear before him in compliance with the order of the court on November 25, in a case filed against him by the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke, Oba Kadiri Adeoye, he would have no option but to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.

At Tuesday’s sitting, while the applicant, Oba Adeoye, was in court, the Oluwo of Iwo was
conspicuously absent, a situation that drew the rage of Magistrate Aluko.

He had at the last sitting sent another monarch, Ologburo of Ogburo, Oba Asimiyu Sadiq, to represent him.

Counsel to the Oluwo of Iwo-Oke, Mr Soji Oyetayo, in his submission urged the court not to entertain any of the applications filed by the respondent until he complies with the order of the court.

He said:

“The first respondent (Oba Akanbi) filed an application of stay of proceeding yesterday afternoon, so, I am of the opinion that he is not ready to move any application today.
“Meanwhile, the court made an order on 25 November, 2016 and up till now the order has not been complied with. The application asking for a stay of proceeding cannot stay the order already made.
“The order of the court is meant to be obeyed. The non-appearance of the first respondent in this matter is a flagrant disobedient of the order of the court”.
Counsel to Oba Akanbi, Mr Olayide Yekeen, explained that his client submitted the notice of preliminary objection, challenging the jurisdiction of the court to hear the case on November 15 and that by careful perusal of the State Magistrate Law, Section 19:1, the court could not entertain the matter.

According to him,

“it is the threshold of all cases that whenever the issue of jurisdiction is raised, it is to be taken first. On the issue of jurisdiction and the competence of the case, the respondent has the right to be heard first before any enquiry can be made in the matter”.
In his ruling, Magistrate Aluko stated that he agreed with the respondent’s counsel that the issue of jurisdiction must be treated first.
“On the order of the court made on November 25, 2016, the order remained. I hereby issue a bench warrant against the first respondent while further proceeding on the matter is adjourned to December 27, 2016,” he told the court.

I Killed My Mom Because She Demanded Sex-33-year-old man

A 33-year-old man, Segun Ogunlusi, who allegedly killed his mum, Abimbola Ogunlusi, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, says he killed her because she persistently asked him for s*x.

Like seriously...a mother asking her own son for s*x?

The suspect was paraded at the Ogun State Police Command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Tuesday by the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu.

Segun was reported to have killed his mother and dumped the corpse in a soakaway on Oketunde Street, Molatori, Ogijo, in the Sagamu area of the state.

Confessing to his action, Segun told Punch that he was provoked by his mother’s alleged incessant s*x demand, saying that he could no longer endure it.

He said, “I killed my mother because she had been demanding s*x persistently from me. She said if I had s*x with her, I would be free. On a particular Tuesday, two of us were at home; she was in the kitchen when I walked up to her, stabbed her in the stomach and she died.

“I poured kerosene on her corpse in a bid to burn her, but the corpse did not burn. Later, I dumped the corpse in a soakaway.”

Segun, who looked remorseful, said he regretted his action. "I regret everything I did,” he said.
