Photo: Police Nab Six Notorious Bandits Terrorizing Enugu



The Enugu State Police Command has arrested six notorious bandits that have been terrorising the residents of Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the State.

Mr Ebere Amaraizu, the command’s spokesman told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday that items recovered from the bandits included locally made guns and two short axes. He said other items recovered were TV sets, DVDs, standing fans, six handsets suspected to have been stolen from their victims.

Amaraizu said that the gang was rounded up by the police following a tip-off from some members of the public.

“The police operatives in Adani Division in the early hours of Saturday, Sept. 10 nabbed six notorious armed bandits. They have been terrorising the residents of Opanda, Nimbo and Adani communities in Uzo-Uwani LGA of the state and its environs.


“Suspects, name withheld, are helping the police in their investigations in relations to their alleged nefarious activities.

“Their activities ranges from armed robbery and burglary among others,’’ he said.

The police spokesman, however, said that the command had launched a manhunt on the remaining gang members.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Emmanuel Ojukwu, had applauded the effort of his men and the synergy between the police and members of the community.
