The suspect, dressed in a military uniform and went to Aso Rock Bar & Hotel at Ikotun area to arrest a customer, Essien Victor who went there to drink.
Ibrahim reportedly assaulted Essien to the extent that he injured him while forcefully dragging him out of the hotel.
However, he was prevented from taking Essien out by the hotel management who demanded his identity and asked to know why he did not come with the police if his action was genuine.
When he could not give satisfactory answer, the management contacted the police at Ikotun division who arrested him and took him to the station.
During interrogation, the police discovered that he was not a military officer as he claimed and was detained in the cell.
He later confessed that he wasn’t or had any relation in the military. The suspect added that he only used that as one of the ways to make money.
He also confessed that he bought the uniform and other military gadgets found on him during the arrest at the barracks.
He was charged before a Magistrate’s court in Ejigbo with assault on Essien and at the same time impersonation by wearing and identifying himself as a member of Nigerian Armed Force.
He pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr Akeem Fashola granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The fake soldiers was remanded in prison pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 7th February, 2017.
