Nigerian Teenager Stabbed To Death In London

An 18-year-old Nigerian, Israel Ogunsola, was stabbed to death on Wednesday night in Hackney, London.

His death, together with the death of a man in his 50s, takes London’s suspected murder toll to more than 50 in just three months.

Ogunsola was said to have approached the police with his knife wounds shortly before 8:00p.m. on Wednesday, following the attack. Officers rushed to his aid in Link Street, in the east London borough. Paramedics and staff from the London Air Ambulance attempted to save his life but he was pronounced dead at the scene less than half an hour later.

His devastated father, Dele Ogunsola, 55, said Israel, who was studying to be a computer programmer, had gone out on his bike with friends but never came home.

Police have launched an investigation into Israel's death and have arrested two teenagers, both 17, on suspicion of murder.

Shockingly, Israel's death is the 55th murder met police have investigated since the New Year.

Holding back tears at his flat just several hundred yards from where his son died, Dele said: "My son was liked by everyone, he was a well brought up boy.

"This must stop, these streets are so dangerous and young people are being slaughtered every day.

"We have to tackle this problem.

"He went out on his bike and never came back, he had lots of friends.

"He was the baby of the house, he has an older brother and sister.

"We are heartbroken."
